Chemistry and Physics AS paper 12 MCQS

A student calculated the standard enthalpy change of formation of ethane, C2H6, using a method based on standard enthalpy changes of combustion. He used correct values for the standard enthalpy change of combustion of ethane (–1560 kJ mol–1) and hydrogen (–286 kJ mol–1) but he used an incorrect...

    Chemistry: Post your doubts here!

looking at first choice .. it says its saturated (no double bond-alkane) and diol ( 2 OH group) it has 4 carbon ,, you know alkane with 4 carbon (butane) has formula C4H8 .. in this case replace 2 hydrogen with OH group (since its diol) this gives you C4H6 (OH)2 which has molecular formula of...

    i think u didnt understand ;) here is better expaination vertical velocity= u cos 45 horizontal velocity = u sin 45 so, initial K.E. : the vertical and horizontal components of kinetic energy = 1/2 m ( u cos 45 ) + 1/2 m ( u sin 45 ) ......... ( 1/2 m v^2 formula ) so, sin 45 = 0.71...

q14 at highest point, its vertical velocity is zero, and horizontal speed remains same, let initial velocity is V, then K.E. is 1/2mV*2 at highest point horizontal velocity is V / root2 so K.E. = 1/2mV*2 x 1/2 ie .05E
