How was your maths 42 M1

Yeah common wrong answers show that there was a trend of difficult questions, so you might expect thresholds to be low. Maybe lower than last year's.

    Mathematics: Post your doubts here!

Not sure what went wrong, would have to ask my teacher about this, so if anyone has got pictures of the paper please do share them(ask your exam officer to take photos from the extra copies CIE sends, pls). You can expect to lose 1 mark for the wrong answer for sure, and possibly 2 marks for not...

    Physics: Post your doubts here!

After reading the comments on the physics practical, I will say this: Tables and their workings are fine in pencil. No matter what your gradient and y-intercept are, you will get marks for them as long as you used the correct method and took the right values from the graph(that means taking care...

How was your maths 42 M1

Haha, it was easy for me, but others found it challenging. So this is based on how everyone in my batch responded, not just me ;)

    Mathematics: Post your doubts here!

My answer for Q2 was some big number with 2 at the start but several mates of mine got like 36 something. As for the coefficient of friction, both methods to find coefficient of friction appear to be correct and logical but the only reason you might not choose the method that got the answer 5 is...

How was your maths 42 M1

Exceeding 1 is possible for sure. Firstly, in real life there are materials with a coefficient of friction greater than 1. Secondly, there was a m18 question that told us to prove that the coefficient of friction is 4/3. But 5 is too high, thus that method is incorrect

How was your maths 42 M1

I feel the same browski, but the other method seems legit to me too. The only reason it puts me off is because the value for coefficient of friction is too large. I know the coefficient of friction can be more than 1 but not as high as 5!

How was your maths 42 M1

Could be, who knows! :p But my friends found some parts tough and got several wrong answers, not sure how. The most common wrong answers were like P=1 in Q1, 3000kw in q2 and something like 5 in the coefficient of friction question. These are the common mistakes my friends made, might not be...
