A factory manufactures tennis balls of exactly 100g
The factory consists of 5 machines that produce these balls. The balls are marked with the numbers 1,2,3,4 and 5 to ensure the machine that had manufactured them. In a certain fault one of the 5 machines start manufacturing the balls of 99g. The workers now want to find out which machine had a fault. The electronic balance has enough battery to give only 1 reading. Using as much balls as you want, advise how will you find the machine with the fault.(remember the balls are marked with the machine numbers).

I think I got it!

see take 1 ball numbered one..2 balls numbered two..3 balls numbered three..4 balls numbered four..5 balls numbered five

so in a total ..there'll be 15 balls

now use the balance to find the weight of the 15 balls! subtract this from 1500...the difference indicates the number on the machine which is faulty
