It's kinda slow in virtual box. I tried to run windows 8 but failed :p

my processor supports virtualisations. it has to be enables in advanced bios options. so the virtual box software actually takes it's own CPU and computer power. and it works faster than windows because it's linux and light weight.
i gave it 2 processors and 3 gb of ram. it hardly takes 3 GB. it takes no more than 1.5 GB even when it has so many applications opened.

believe me, my experience was better than running standalone ubuntu. reason: it runs windows and ubuntu at same time. do the things window is good at in windows and rest of it in ubuntu.
with local shared folders any change i make on ubuntu to that folder is there on windows. and things added to clipboard of windows can be pasted in ubuntu and vice versa.
I am very satisfied.

there is a reason for why i installed ubuntu.
1- it has apt not yum
2- it runs debian packages
3- it has a very active community of volunteers on askubuntu.com if anything goes wrong.
4- and on gui side it's workspaces make organizing apps very easy. which is critical for me.

why would you like to run windows on windows.
people install windows on macbook and it runs very smoothly.
idk about windows in windows. windows is not a good host operating system. it is mainstream because it is easy to use.
