Fix a point on the horizon. Now, picture two roads to travel on: one difficult, the other, easy. You choose the easy one, so the only thing you do is that you keep walking. You will reach, but you are still what you were when you fixed your goal. Now, walk on the difficult path, full of obstacles, of stepping stones, of hardships. You will reach, eventually, but you would have changed to something better.

Life is the second path. A man values what he achieves proportionately to the effort he spends on it. If everything was so easy, it would be taken for granted. In valuing life and everything one attains on that difficult path, a man learns the value of himself.
