Ok so see The Student X claimed that all the carbon atoms were lying in the same plan and its not true becaz majority of the carbon atoms are joined together by sigma bond and therefore these bonds are flexible ( just imagine this ) and its not necessary that they have to lie on the same plane all the time ...

So student X is wrong ... coming to Student Y .. the each doubly bonded carbon atom is not bonded to two different groups .. its clearly see that both the doubly bonded carbon atoms are joined together forming a single group ... i hope u got it
