Plz explain me how to write the formula of magnesium nitrate

well Mg (Magnesium) is in group two so it has an oxidation state of +2 while NO3 (nitrate ion) has an oxidation state of -1. So now u exchange the numbers. The 2 of Mg should go with NO3 and the 1 of NO3 should go with Mg.
So in each molecule
No. of NO3 = 2 and no of Mg = 1
So its like Mg(NO3)2

Al2O3 + H2O --- Al (OH)3

Just make sure tbat the total no. of AL , H , and O on both sides should b same . In this case , there r 2 Al atoms on the reactant side , so write 2 before Al to make it 2 Al on product side. Then , write 3 before H20 to balance the total no. of H and O on the product side .
