I totally agree with you! The soul is forced towards the gates of hell if it suicides without any mercy....it is totally forbidden and they cannot see the lights of heaven as well!

Cuz Shaitan and our nafs is always with us , which forces people towards Haram...Even though they cross the line which is laid By Allah and Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W)..and they don't care and they try to hide what they have done

I suppose the person is a Muslim that's why he/she has lost faith in Islam. It would not have been possible if the person was a non-Muslim!
