Assalamoalaikum!! :) :)

Since I'm solving Paper 5 these days, and having a lot of doubts, so I'm creating this thread to put all the doubts here!

This is an exothermic reaction. And so heat is lost to the surrounding. In normal case, we would conduct the experiment by dipping the thermometer into the solution in the beaker. And can you spot the error now??

Heat is lost to the surrounding via evaporation. A lid could be used to cover the mouth of the beaker, preventing heat loss.
Second, place some insulations around the beaker to prevent heat loss from the sides of the beaker...

I hope I helped. But do check the marking scheme to see if my answers are correct. Am still groggy here. ^^
