What is the current formula for Alevel Equivalence?

You don't a different equivalence for A levels. It's always combined with your O level grades.

They used to only count 5 subbjects in O Levels but they all 8 subjects now :S

They count the 5 compulsory and 3 compulsory subjects of both O and A Levels!

No it's still the same! 5 subjects from O levels & 3 from A levels. Calculate your marks out of 800, then from 1100!

I meant while making Matric equivalence they used all 8 of my subjects giving me a low score. Previously they used to take only five. 3 elective 1 with highest grade and.

So I thought they also changed the pattern for FSc equivalence.

can you tell in detail which 5 subjects and the method?

I was an overseas student,, it was different for me =/
For the local students, I've heard they take Pak studies, Islamiyat, Urdu, English & any one subject with the highest grade. Then the 3 subjects from A levels.

Thanks for the help. I found the exact formula online. There is little hope for govt. med colleges. 82% given that I get all A* in Alvels

IBCC EQUIVALENCE FORMULA

Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) has set regulations for students wishing to continue their education in Pakistan after their A Level. These regulations are especially important for students willing to study Medical or Engineering subjects.

For converting the grades of O and A Level into F.Sc. marks, an equivalence formula is used which considers 8 subjects of O Level (5 compulsory and 3 elective) and 3 A Level subjects. Marks are allotted according to the following criteria:

CIE has introduced a new grade A* from November 2009 for O Level and from June 2010 for A Level. A* grade is awarded to students taking AS Examinations only on the completion of their A Level after two years. Since a total of 11 subjects (8 O Level & 3 A Level subjects) is considered for equivalence, the total marks are 1100. Please note that marks secured in a subject of O or A Level carry equal weight, so students must perform well in all subjects at both levels to score high.

Students can improve their marks by reappearing in a subject (with a poor grade) but that must be done within one year of the first attempt and before getting the equivalence certificate.
