Biology help: Sewage treatment and Genetic Engineering

I'd appreciate if anyone posted a good description with details on exactly how sewage treatment is done (microbes involved, substances used) and genetic engineering on how the microbes are exactly manipulalted to produce required materials in a fermenter.

Please include details, post links to notes, pdf files, but don't make them too hard to understand!!!
