Can somebody please explain me the d-d transition which gives Transition Metals their coloured compounds? Thanks =)

d orbitals exist in two difrent energy levels. when light is incident upon it, some electrons absorb energy n shifts from lower to higher energy level. some colors are absorbed n others reflected, hence v see colored compounds.
