In part b(i) The selection pressure is acting only on right hand side, The mean will move to a little bit on left of 20cm (only one side is applying the selection pressure) and as the curve will range from 0( pressure not applied on left hand side), narrowing it to 35 due to pressure applied on right hand side.
This is what we call directional selection b(ii) in which the selection pressure is only applied from one side. And results when a new allele or environmental factor appears causing allele frequencies to change.

This is a graph which will help you to understand, though it' s also in the book. here the selection pressure is applied only to the left hand side causing the shift on the mean to right hand side .
Hope this helps you.
