Importance of hand writing in Urdu B(Second Language)

Hey guys. I gave the Urdu B paper today and the sheets for writing were English sheets and as a result my handwriting was poor. My paper was still readable and understandable but I've read that bad handwriting can lead to a big mark deduction. Is this true?
