need accounting incomplete records help

guys ,when like they give u GP margin , sales, opening stock, purchases. they ask calculate by means of a trading accounting the value of closing stock..can i just calculate it outside the trading account and then enter the closing stock value in the trading account? need help urgent im sure its coming tomorrow in da exam !
