they said the pressure of the gas and not the total pressure so u have to subtract! but i didn't do this :p
yup pressure of the gas = atmospheric pressure + pressure in part A it is a formula :) so if u did this its correct answer :)

hahhaha no it is adding the ppressures not subtracting :)
if the liquid column would had been higher to the right side where atmospheric pressure was acting then you would had been right. here the pressure was certainly lower than atmospheric pressure as the opened side exerted atmospheric pressure which forced the liquid to rise from other side
