the easiest way is to observe,
for example:
try it with a Kite, lines of symmetry(1)
where as, a square has all sides equal and therefore, (4) lines of symmetry

There are. First memorise that all REGULAR figures will have the same lines of symmetry and the order of rotational symmetry as their number of sides. For example an equilateral triangle would have 3 lines of symmetry and order of rotational symmetry 3.

Now for the irregular figures, do this! Rotate your paper to see what would the figure look like being rotated. Now keep in mind the original shape of the figure. See how many times it comes into the same shape alongside one last time when the page is finally rotated back to its place. That would be the order of rotational symmetry.
