Slip rings??????

What is a slip ring . . how does it work . . .. . is its function different from a split ring???? Plz answer

The split ring causes the direction of the magnetic field in the armature to change as the motor rotates. If it wasn't there the motor wouldn't rotate.

A slip ring is used in AC generator which causes the direction of the magnetic field to change with the AC waveform.

Well a split ring also conveys the induced e.m.f to the external circuit in an a.c. gen.!
