Important question for students who have done A levels or know about stuff. I have taken economics in A levels without any prior knowledge of the subject. If one has to list down all benefits of keeping economics at A levels, please enlist them. If one has no career decided. NOTHING. Just ALL benefits of keeping economics =) be it university admissions, benefit for a certain career path, per-requisites for a certain career...any and everything. Since i really need to decide whether its worth it or am I just wasting time.

AND..second question:

AS or ALEVEL? Bring on a COMPLETE argument.

Thanks in advance ;)

1) Economics adds value to life. The way you think, analyse and reach conclusions will definitely change. It's a science. One that will help you build logical analysis and reach rational interpretations of human behaviour and interaction.
2) Even if nobody really believes what economists say, the world wouldn't do without them. Society's problems stems from various sources, but their solutions almost always are economic in nature.
3) As I've observed, Economics is the most versatile degree after Maths. If you have a degree in Eco from a good university, it can get you almost anywhere (and in the highest positions) in the business and financial sectors. So, if you plan to do Eco at uni (which will be a safe investment for you), do it at A levels. Pretty bulky subject it is.
4) Study Economics, but first learn to love it. This will make the theory a lot more easier and exciting.
5) Don't buy that wrong impression from people who've no deep knowledge about it and let them mislead you. Economics isn't money, money and money. It's people, people, and people and everything that relates to them. Money just relates to people. It isn't a study on its own. Though creation of money by banks will be an interesting thing to explore.
6) A level. AS is mostly micro, and in A levels, you will encounter the complex macroeconomics. Without a knowledge of either, none would make much practical sense.
7) Economics exists since the dawn of civilization, and it isn't going to disappear before the Apocalypse. So, you don't have to bother about cyclical changes in employment sectors. Unless of course, there are too many Economists (but it's a dreaded subject, and according to statistics, only 5% of a population consists of bold people. Okay, that's an exaggerated way of saying not many people will choose economics for higher studies :p).

I can go on and on, but I've exams. The opportunity cost of my time is currently exceedingly high. Talk to you later.

Thanks alot for the indepth reply ;)

But what i meant by AS or A levels was for ALL subjects. The question is, should i give some papers as AS and then rest next year. Or SHOULD i give all papers in the next year (i.e complete A levels in one go)?

Give it separately. You never know what comes along, keep a room for improvement. Alevel is a big jump after O level...you need to develop a particular mind for A2. As will make your base and give an inside picture of what actually Alevel needs from you, your standing, and the level of improvement needed further. Or you'll have to waste a year if anything bad happens. Keep your doors opens.
