Urgent: Help in Mechanics 1 needed!!

Hi.. I was wondering if someone could help me explain about chapter 4 and 5 (Resolving Forces and Friction). As you can see I have been trying to understand the main concept but I couldn't understand it at all @@...I even failed my 1st quiz.. Please give me suggestions.. Thanks guys..

forces can only be resolved into two compenents
perpendicular to each other.
i) If the force makes certain angle with X-axis
One component would be along X-Axis and other along Y-Axis( perpendicular to the component lying along x-axis).
ii) if the force is lying along the slope of the plane.
One component would be along the plane and other perpendicular to the plane.

now resloving all these , then see whether the body is in equilibrium
a) if yes, then
take sum of all compnents of horizontal forces ( along the plane)=0
and sum of all component of vertical forces(perpendicular to plane)=0
and hence unknown force can be calcaulted.
b) if it is not
then take resultant (net) of the forces along the direction it is moving and apply Newton's 2nd law.
