Questions regarding the exam system

Hi.
I'd appreciate it if anyone could answer these questions:
1. Is there any difference between IGCSE and O level syllabus? And is it harder? I tend to use a lot of IGCSE resources to study since they are a lot more accessible than O level resources, and often better quality too. Should they be treated as interchangeable terms?

2. How hard is it getting into a good universities in Pakistan through O/A levels? What grades do you need for the good ones? King Edward is what I was hoping to get into, but it feels like a pipe dream.

3. Could someone tell me about the "official cutting" process when applying to a uni? Am I disadvantaged just because I chose not to study the local "metric" syllabus?

Any and all insights are incredibly valued.

I don't know much about your first question but i know that there is a slight syllabus difference in IGSCE and O level otherwise the content is mostly the same but o level is favoured in most of the schools.
If you are a medical student then doing o and A levels may not be best choice as when grades are converted your percentage is cut way down and as the competition and merit for medical is way high thus it will be much better if you follow the matric fsc system.
Official cutting process is not much known but you can check it out on IBCC website.

I'm a medical student but I plan on going abroad after completing med school, having O/A levels done would look better than the local metric system.

I thought the cutting system was no more?

It was just a demand that was not fulfilled I mean not officially announced yet.
And yes if you are going abroad then O/A level is the best.

I am currently a medical student in the UK and if you want to go abroad for post-grad then your high school qualifications don't matter.

If you are going for undergrad like I did, then YES! O/A Levels are probably the best choice! :)
