CRO - electron is the emitted particle. It happens as the meat filament heats up and releases electrons from its surface. The anode accelerates the particle, until it hits the screen.
Note: if air was present, the electron would be deflected, diverted, blocked by collision with air molecules.

plates r for deflecting the electrons. X-plate moves the electron horizontally and Y-plate move the electrons vertically. They do it by using simple electrostatic forces. Like when the top plate of the Y-plates is positive and the bottom is negative, electrons would move to the top of the screen.
