Silent Hunter
yes i think so...... cuz mercury is often used in eletcircal switches
bikermicefrmars
bikermicefrmars
ok...thanks :)
Silent Hunter
Silent Hunter
no problem :)

bikermicefrmars
two more

1. If in a solution no reactant or anything is let out and a precipitate forms lets say silver chloride since the reactants are silver nitrate and HCL, does the mass of the reaction flask increase?

2. Why does pentane have a higher boiling point than propane? Is it because there are more covalent bonds to break or forces of attraction between atoms increase?
Silent Hunter
Silent Hunter
1.i am not sure.cuz if dont let anything out...... the mass should remain same.... but am not sure about it.

2.cuz more carbons, more bonds, more bonds to break in pentane,so more energy needed to break the bonds ...
bikermicefrmars
bikermicefrmars
for the second one...it was an MCQ. So is it more covalent bonds or greater forces of attraction?
Silent Hunter
Silent Hunter
forces of attraction
bikermicefrmars
bikermicefrmars
in ur explanation u mentioned bonds..no? Cos in the mcq it said forces of attraaction between atoms. And from what i know, the forces of attraction remain same. Its the bonds that are formed. So shouldnt it be more covalent bonds to break?
Silent Hunter
Silent Hunter
bonds formed ? where? its boiling and you know that boiling occurs when molecules are separated form each other......
Silent Hunter
Silent Hunter
the molecules arent broken down themselves... just one molecule separates from the other.. and so the more forces difficult to separate the molecules :) ..
Silent Hunter
Silent Hunter
and is you break covalent bonds.... you are now breaking the molecule itself .... :) in the molecules there are bonds while between the molecules there are intermolecular forces of attraction.... and in boiling or melting intermolecular forces are broken not the bonds :)
bikermicefrmars
bikermicefrmars
Ok..thanks alot :). Tell me one thing , do you remember how many mcqs you got wrong for Physics and Chemistry? And how well did your P2 and P4 went for them?
Silent Hunter
Silent Hunter
you in A levels too?
bikermicefrmars
bikermicefrmars
im talking about O levels ;)
Silent Hunter
Silent Hunter
well physics went fine and chemitstry too.... by the way did some mistakes ... some silly ones in my physics exam in MCQs and chemistry too..... atp was easy and paper 2 also... :) how did ur exams go?
bikermicefrmars
bikermicefrmars
These are my expectations:

Physics MCQ= 37-38/40
Physics P2= 68/75
Physics P4=25/30

Chemistry MCQ=36-37/40
Chem P2= 67/75
Chem P4=58/60

Maths is on 6th and 8th June :)
Silent Hunter
Silent Hunter
good ones bro :) beSt of luck for the upcoming ones :D
bikermicefrmars
bikermicefrmars
Were your expectations like these?
Silent Hunter
Silent Hunter
well i never ever made expectations :p ;) just thoughts
