X = No. of geese.
So how many geese can be chosen? 0, 1 or 2
Now four birds are to be chosen in total.
When there are 0 geese chosen, how many birds will be there. 4 obviously. Choosing 4 ducks from a total of 5 gives you 5C4. You need the probability. So divide this result from total(7C4) - chosing 4 from 7 birds. = 1/7

When 1 geese is chosen the number of ducks to be chosen will be 3  total of 4 remember?
So 1 from 2 geese; 2C1
3 from 5 ducks; 5C3
Probability ; (2C1*5C3)/7C4 = 4/7

When 2 geese are chosen the number of ducks to be chosen will be 2  total of 4 birds
So 2 from 2 geese; 2C2
2 from 5 ducks; 5C2
Probability; (2C2 * 5C2)/7C4 = 2/7

You took a lot of trouble..sorry.
And you make me feel stupid :p Thank you for your time Anum :)
For 1 goose, why can't i take 1/2*3/5?
