Syed Ahmed khan was a great political leader and did much to patch up b/w britishers and the indian muslims (when briitsh were rulers and muslims were looked down upon).. and he set up the famous Aligarh university...

BUT the guy tried 'Islamic work' and wrote his own tafseer.. if u ask me it is UNislamic work instead of Islamic coz he literally made up his own interpretations abt Quran with almost no regard for how rasoolAllah S.A.W taught it to us.. That's why scholars speak against him and I'll never advise anyone to read his writings.
