No it is not a replacement. At least in my school we use both of them. It is better for some units like the League of Nations, I suggest you get it. But use both textbooks definitely.

Hey you will also need a text book for your depth study. In Paper 4 you have a in depth study of one specific country. In my school we are doing Germany and there is a separate textbook for that (link given below). Also along with using the textbook you gave the link for we use GCSE Modern World...
