Grade Threshold QUEry,.. pls help!

hey! i have seen Grade threshold on xpf page and i had a question.. do these apply to all students giving tht particular subject? Is there only 1 grde threshold or they are different region wise? do all subjects apply to the gt? because there is sumthing called component too like in math i have...
