How do they determine your grade

Can someone please explain to me how CIE determine your grade. Do they just add your marks for all the components and see where your marks come in between the gt? What about the weightage of P1 P2 P3 in science exams? If I get 15/60 on paper 2 but 34+ on paper 1 and paper 3 in my exams (AS...
