http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weight On the surface of the Earth, the acceleration due to gravity is approximately constant; this means that the magnitude of an object's weight on the surface of the Earth is roughly proportional to its mass. In situations other than that of a constant position...

@bilal. it says apparent gravity not apparent weight.

    Physics P1 and P2: Discussi0n

yeah u r rite but then how can we know the exact value of weight. its different everywhere. the question specified that the weight while moving up. if it doesn't increase then the question wud have asked us at a constant position and then the theory could be applied that the further away from...

why will it decrease? i think in if we place an iron nail close to or away from the magnet, as long as it is inside the field lines, the iron will be attracted by the same force.

but in a lift, as the lift goes up the weight increases. it says so in the book

then the pull of the Earth remains same. there was no such option and if we stood on scales then our weight would most certainly increase.

    Physics P1 and P2: Discussi0n

about the weight mcq. Mass remains same weight increases as the plane was moving up. when moving up u need more force than mg. so ur weight becomes m(g+a), a is the acceleration of the plane.
