Accelerated Math or Normal Math in A Levels?

Many 'elite' universities don't count accelerated subjects in their offer making towards 'competitive' subjects as they like to see a student can handle a variety of subjects in a single exam sitting. Additionally, all universities in the UK explicitly state that subjects taken a year early do...

Accelerated Math or Normal Math in A Levels?

British Universities, though this only applies to the 'elite' (Oxbridge, etc). I have no idea about Pakistani Universities.

Accelerated Math or Normal Math in A Levels?

There's no point taking accelerated. Most importantly because a lot of top universities specifically exclude the accelerated grade attained in offer making. The only benefit taking accelerated maths to pose is if you also wanted to take Further Maths. Other than that, there's no particular...

Should I choose CIE or Edexcel for AS level?

The only difference would be that you wouldn't be as prepared for University by taking Edexcel. You should see taking CIE as bearing a particular advantage rather than Edexcel bearing a particular disadvantage. You'll find CIE noticeably harder. For example, about a third of my Edexcel Further...

Should I choose CIE or Edexcel for AS level?

No, they're both equally recognised on a grade-for-grade basis.

Should I choose CIE or Edexcel for AS level?

Well, undergrad degrees in America are 4 years whilst in Britain they are 3. So, essentially the first year you'd do in America is equivalent to A levels (lots of people going to America who did A levels get enough college credits as to even skip Freshman Year).

Should I choose CIE or Edexcel for AS level?

If anything CIE (and A levels in general) will give you an even better preparation for University if you're NOT going to one in Britain! My friends at American colleges said that their AS's pretty much covered their first year. Funnily enough, one person I know took AS Physics and got a B. He...

For all those complaining about your grades and CIE..

Economics, so basically applied maths haha. Are you going to University this year?

Should I choose CIE or Edexcel for AS level?

Edexcel is by far easier than CIE, but I believe that the CIE exams give you a preparation for University! I think that's what you should consider.

For all those complaining about your grades and CIE..

I had to laugh when I read your first line. I'm beginning my undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge this October whilst you are apparently in immature denial about your C, D and E grades. Somehow I don't think I'm the loser. Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not the one saying that...

For all those complaining about your grades and CIE..

I know exactly how you feel: I had an offer this year from the University of Cambridge (which was conditional on my achievement of A*AA at A level). With regards to who's fault it is, the answer is no one's. As harsh as it sounds, if you didn't meet your offer (even though you worked at your...

For all those complaining about your grades and CIE..

I agree. I'm finding it rather annoying how most disappointed student on this forum are jumping to blame CIE for their circumstances rather than evaluating themselves first. I understand their disappointment, but I firmly believe that taking personal responsibility is part of maturity. I...

    Can I get an A* in A2?

It's a moot point discussing what marks you need to get to get an A* at A2. I understand your concern, but just try your best to get the highest marks possible in your next exams - perhaps you'll get an A*, perhaps you won't. I don't know about Biology and Chemistry, but you'll definitely need...

    RETAKES AS LEVEL

Yes. Someone at my school last year went from a B in AS Physics at an A* at A level; it's definitely doable!

    RETAKES AS LEVEL

Well it depends how you define 'good'. If we're talking Cambridge etc then yes, but not significantly if you're only retaking one subject (although if you are retaking more, it will). It also depends what course you're applying for. If you're applying for engineering then not really, as those...

    Everyone's Results

Yeah... They do, but only in certain countries. I met a few people when I had my interview at Cambridge and they had percentages from CIE. They're called Percentage Uniform Marks.
