so maximum strain energy = 0.024 J
so, half of it is 0.024/2 = 0.012 J

when spring have maximum strain energy, extension is 2.6 cm....
so, by E= 1/2xkx^2, find the value of k!!
0.024=0.5xkx(0.026)^2 so k= 71

now when spring have half of its maximum strain energy extension = d

use the same equation, 0.012=0.5x71xd^2

Calculate d and it is equal to 1.8 cm.......
