A levels as opposed to O-levels (IGCSE) - question

Hey, I was always an extremely poor student, I bunked most of my O level classes and got terrible internal report cards. Then, in the 2 months preceding my exams, I studied my a** off and ended up with 9 A's (5 A*'s!). This led me to think that I could do the same with A levels. What is the difficulty level difference b/w the two? Can I still pull a fast one and not do any work/homework till right before my exams and still ace them?
