Please can anyone advise me abt the subject selection at A -levels. Is this combination gud:
Phy, Chem, Math, Account, G.P ... as i intend to go for chemical engineering and then do my mba.

My o levels subjects were purly engineering.. including computer and business studies.
Shall I take computer or AICT in A-levels??? ( I dont like the boring questions of computing in O levels)

Secondly, shud i take business studies in alevels??
I chose accounts as i may join at my fathers place who is an accountant and secondlly i'll do mba so no need for busines studies.

Ur help needed

First of all you must acknoweledge the fact that A level is Far more difficult than O levels and taking up so many subjects will put a lot of burden on u.
I will advice u to go for the following Subjects
1) If u want to go in Engineering Field
-Maths
-Chemistry
-Physics
2) If u want to go in Computer Engineering
-Maths
-Physics
-Computing
3) If u want to do MBA
-Maths
-Accounts
-Economics/Business Studies

P.S G.P is half-credited Subject but is compulsary in most schools.

What do u mean by half-credited G.P.?

And i want to keep engineering subjects so phy, chem , math is confirmed and then i need a further extra subject so tell me whether to take accounts or b.s???

I heard someone saying that g.p is recommended

Half-Credit means that its not treated as a full subject and has less value !! Furthermore if going in Engineering then go with Accounts!! Business Studies won't help u that much in MBA !!

First of all, I don't get why you want to do chemical engineering when ultimately you will do MBA and then end up in your Father's business. Why waste time and alot of hard-work doing Engineering if your final aim is business?
Anyways, your subjects are not alot and you can easily handle them with proper dedication. I would advice you to do Economics instead of Accounting or Business Studies. Eventhough, Economics require more hard work than both the above subjects, but you'll also get alot of credit for this subject and its combination with Phy, Chem and Maths will provide you with diversity. As far as G.P is concerned, you don't get alot of credit in university admissions regardless of what grade you get in it. So basically G.P is just for your own learning and improvement in writing skills.

Btw, AICT is not like computing. Though, the written papers are more or less the same for both the subjects, but AICT has practical papers that make it fun and enjoyable to do. I agree that the theory part may get boring at times.

Hamidali391 is very right! and that does not matter that u didn't study Eco in O levels, Eventually u will cover up the syllabus as many candidates change their subjects in A levels from Engineering to Commerce

It doesn't matter if you didn't study Economics at O'levels. If you are capable enough, you can easily do Economics directly in A'levels. I have alot of friends doing that successfully.

Can u define me the reason of going for Economics instead of Accounts with an engineering combination ... my father has been an accountant. I did not have accounts in O levels but found "O" Accounts rather easy in vacations. when i had a few minutes with my father

Further, wat do u say, if i take Eco and Accounts both of them???? provided that the school i m chosing has a good faculty

The only commerce subject with a high credit is Economics. Do accounting only if you are interested in doing bachelors in finance or you want to go for C.A. Otherwise, Accounting doesn't has much credit. Plus, many guys are not able to handle Accountings well when they haven't studied it at O'levels because there are too many concepts to handle and there is not enough credit. ECO is one of th emost challenging subjects of A'levels and it will be nice to be kept along with your sciences. But you can definitely keep both of them if you are really interested in it. But it depends on your school if they will offer such a combination.

Hope this helped. :)
