Well you dont require Chem for software engineering. It wont come in handy......
However you can only drop Chemistry if you wanna go abroad and study. I dont think in Pak youll be able to get into engineering without Chem. Many of my friends who wanna do SE have dropped Chem from their list. Keep in mind this closes all your doors for the future. You cant do any engineering except software without Chem!!!!
Best of Luck for ur future!!!

I also have an interest in software designing / programming, and I am currently learning a few programming languages. For A-level, I don't want to take Chemistry either (It's not compulsory and it'll be pretty much useless when it comes to programming so there's absolutely no point in taking it). If I don't have enough subjects (I want to take 4-5), then I'll probably take it though. But if you are absolutely certain that you will join software engineering, then you should drop it. My brother didn't take Chemistry in A-level and he's doing programming without any problems whatsoever.
