1)why is ethanoyl chloride more reactive than phenacyl chloride... ( may/june 2010 p42)
2) An experiment to show that,ethanoyl chloride has a faster rate of reaction compared to phenacyl chloride...

1) because in phenacyl chloride C-Cl bond is strong due to lone pairs of Cl delocalised over benzene ring... And carbon in ethanoyl chloride is bonded to two electronegative centres oxygen and chlorine..so Carbon is highly partially positive...making it a strong electrophilic center..
2) Add silver nitrate to both, note the time taken for white ppt of AgCl to form...no ppt in phenacyl chloride while a ppt forms quickly in ethanoyl chloride... note the time and find rate by 1/T
