in the remote sensing chapter it says that the penetration of xrays gives greater contrast whereas the absorption of xrays gives less contrast. why is that so? what is the difference between penetration and absorption? im so confusedd. help please! i'll pray that you go to jannat :p

A greater penetration means more x-rays reach the screen so the dark region appeares more Darker. If there is lot of absorption then less X-rays reach the screen so screen is less darker. Contrast is like a measure of difference of color (how deep the black color is). The white part of screen is unaffected( and remains same in color deepness). So, a greater contrast means the black region is darker
