ielts is international english language testing system. its a test to see how good you are in english. you are marked according to band scores with the highest band being 9. it consists of 4 tests:listening, speaking, reading and writing. you will do 3 of them on one day and the speaking interview on a separate day.there is no pass or fail marks in ielts but in most institutions or anywhere where ielts is needed the lowest requirment youll ever see is around 6 or 6.5. below this isnt really accepted anywhere....
but dont worry its not hard. i did it and i got 7 out of nine. its just testing your basic english.
all the best! :)

Hi,

IELTS (International English Language Testing Service) exam tests the English proficiency level of English as a second language speakers. The IELTS exam tests four skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. Each of them are marked on a scale of 1 to 9 bands (scores). The average of the individual scores in all four skills gives the overall band score with 9 bands being the maximum score. The exam also comprises two modules:Academic and General Training. The former is for candidates who wish to pursue higher orprofessional studies, while the latter is for immigration purposes and easier than the academic module. A score of 7 is mostly required by educational instituitions, however some also accept 6.5 for undergraduate/bachelor programs. Supposing you wish to pursue studies abroad, you will have to take the academic module.

From the list of stated exams, TOEFL and IELTS are sufficient because taking these exams won't require to take any of the other exams. IELTS is accepted in UK, Australia, New Zealand some EU countries and now in some American instituitions too. TOEFL however, is solely for America. As for the difficulty level, TOEFL is easier than IELTS. But giving IELTS will be more beneficial as its more widely accepted.
