Hello people
I am currently writing my October November GCE O'level and I live in Nigeria . I just wanted to ask , I 've been hearing lots of rumours that when results are published , there are adjustments being made to the original mark .
Lets say someone gets 78 Per-cent which is a B mark , his marks get adjusted to around 81 which is an A mark . So can anyone tell me whether adjustments exists or is it just a lie ? Or have u heard about it too ?

Adjustments or EAR's require you to send a form to the British Council requesting they recheck your paper. This requires a fees to be paid depending on the type of recheck you want to request for (just marking recheck, component recheck, full recheck with a hand out of the script, etc).

Thanks for the reply , but I am not referring to adjustments based on rechecking of the papers . I am referring to bonus marks somehow . For example , they mark your paper and the final result is 78 . A little of bonus marks makes it an A . My question is to ask you that do these bonus marks or adjustments really exist ! Been hearing it a lot from teachers in my school and from student who feel they will get a low mark and then rise to high grade maybe due to adjustments .Waiting for your reply . Take care !

I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you. I've seen peple get 89 and be 1 mark off an A* and stuff like that, so I don't think they do. There may be FEW (and I mean VERY FEW) cases where this MAY happen.

ah I heard when people get 89 , its because of the adjustments .

grade thresholds are made every year according to that u are graded say at school level 80 is A but if the paper came tough and many people had difficulty they bring A to 70 percent i dont think bonus marks exist
