about percentage/grading system in AS and A2

Can anyone clear my doubts?. i'm wondering how CIE calculate for all that % .
i heard that AS results only stand 40% and A2 is 60% for overall A-level results.
are there any way to calculate so that i can know about what marks i should score in order to get an A? . THX.

the way they do this is so complex that i think none of us know the fact bout the grading system...!! bt as u asked...40% and 60%..its not so..it depends on the subject and...u can look at it from the syllabus..!!

For most subjects it's 50% AS and 50% A2. Usually a syllabus of a specific subject breaks down the different components according to their weightage, so you should check out the syllabuses for further deail.
