Can anyone please explain how to write the answers to the 4, 7 and 14 mark questions in the history paper according to the new pattern?
There's a little confusion so if anyone who has given the paper this June could explain it, it would be really helpful! :)

4 marks question: 4 genuine points
7 marks question: 3 well explained points....for each point make an individual paragraph
14 marks question: 7 well explained and descriptive points....explanation is very important....AT the end of the answer make a concluding paragraph because it has 2 marks

AoA!
As far as I remember, the first part (part a) is in reference to a source. It is normally a 'what' question and requites you to cite at least 4 points with one mark for each point. Here is an example: A source (statement, quote etc) is given and you are asked "What was the Amritsar Massacre?" You can answer in points.
1. It took place in Jallianwala Bagh in April 1919.
2. General Dyer was responsible for it.
3. 20,000 unarmed people had gathered for (the Baisaki Sikh) festival.
4. General Dyer ordered his troops to shoot resulting in 400 people being killed and 1200 seriously wounded.

Part (b), the seven mark question, requires 3 reasons. It is a 'why' question. You should start by giving a simplistic statement in which you BRIEFLY MENTION all three reasons. In the next 3 paragraphs, give each reason in one paragraph along with some elaboration (sound reasoning). An example is: Why did Pakistan choose Urdu as the official language? Your simplistic statement could be: "Pakistan chose Urdu as the official language because of its long history, vast and rich literature as well as its close association with the Pakistan Movement."

Part (c), the 14 mark question, often asks you to pick out a choice from 3 given choices. Your answer should have the following layout:
1. A simplistic statement in which you point out your choice followed by a BRIEF explanation. This will earn you the first two marks.
2. 4 paragraphs SUPPORTING your chosen factor, each containing one Factor, an Example and Explanation. (FEE)
3. 2-3 paragraphs supporting 2-3 other factors (which might be given in the question). Again each paragraph has to have a Factor, Example and Explanation. (FEE)
4. The last paragraph is your own judgement. It earns you the final 14th mark. It is normally the hardest as it requires giving your personal opinion on the matter the question focuses on and it totally depends on the examiner if he/she likes it or not.
I hope this answers your query! :)

for 14 marks just remember that u have to explain the reason fully and tell why it played an important part like if the question asks its importance !
just dont remember the explanation part the most commonest mistake is exactly this !!
