First source : O'level english by Helen Toner ( Cie Examiner) and John Reynolds, page : 93

[[Frequently asked questions]]

Q2: Will I be penalized if i write more than the recommended word limit?
No, but by writing too much you will penalize yourself because under examination conditions you will have less time to check your work
therefore ending up in more careless mistakes of written expressions etc.*if you spend too much time on one part you will have less time
for the other section.*

ill link more sources once i remember them ;)

if you want to excel in any of the subject than always remember one thing
"practice makes man perfect"

1) Practice writing essays.
2) Read newspapers, novels, short stories etc. and note down the "expressions" which impress you the most. For e.g if you appreciate how a writer has described a scenery, note the paragraph down in your journal.
3) Increase your vocabulary . Memorize a handful of fancy words everyday.
4) Solve the comprehension passages from past papers and then read the EXAMINER REPORTS. They are very helpful.

You guys are so hyped up for English. True its a very very very very crucial subject but you can get an A* without tuition, without revision guides and without any guesses. All you need to do is read novels. Read Michael Mopurgo
Private peaceful, War Horse, A twist of gold, the harry potter series, R.L Stine maybe
Some classics, Sherlock Holmes perhaps.
^ experience
I messes up my comprehension: I gave the june 2010 kite runner one
However my story was one of the best I had ever written.

If you need any help just inbox me or quote me. I don't follow threads
