AS Physics Grad doubt

I have a question. If I got a D in AS level physics, what is the maximum I can get in A level (with AS level grade combined)? For example if I got a D in AS & an A in A-level CAN I possibly get an A as the final grade?

I dnt think so its an average of both the exams so you might get a B or C!!!!!!
