T cells are specific type of white blood cells. They have this receptor site where the antigen, any foreign particle, binds to, as stated in the question. The shape of the antigen must be complementary to the shape of the receptor site. The recptor site region has a variable shape due to a variable protein structure. Which include different amino acids sequence and a different 3d shape. The structure then has to be complimentary to the antigen's structure so that they can bind to each other.
