Business Studies?? Failing to understand something

Alright. This is getting so annoying. I am reading about the features of job enrichment. here it says workers tend to get more motivated if they undertake complete units of work. but what does that actually mean?? what does units of work mean? can anyone please explain with examples.

i think by complete units they meant completion of production as per asked from a worker ..

OH.. its like this.. BAsically.. complete units of work means finishing the whole process of making something by a single person. For Eg: If in a toy factory, one section makes the legs, one the arms and one the head.. a worker will have an idea abt oly the unit he is producing (the leg) . On the other hand , if he produces the whole toy himself, he will derive more satisfaction as he can see that the final product he made is much more worthier dan if he wud b making legs only. Here complete unit of work means producing the whole toy rather than only part of it.

Okay. So this is someway the opposite of specialization? as workers are concentrating on the whole production rather than specializing a specific part of production?

job enrichement means adding tasks to worker job which need extra skills and offer variety of work.
example given by Panchimma is correct and yes sijan 92 it is opposite to specialization idea. job enrichement removes boredom of job as worker have variety of work to perform.
