The foot of a mountain is at sea level
The temperature at the foot of the mountain was 16 degree celcius
The temperature is -4C at 3000m.
Given that the temperature fell at a constant rate
a) The temperature at a height of 1800 m
b) The height at which the temperature was 0 degree celcius
c) an expression in terms of x for the temperature in degree celcius at a height of x metres

You forgot the part where it says the temp. is -4C at 3000m

a) 3000: 20
1800 : x
x = 1800 * 20/3000
x = 12
The temperature fell by 12, so it's 4C

b) 3000 : 20
x : 16
x = 2400m

c) 3000: 20
X : Temp Fall
20(height) = 3000(t.fall)
t.fall = 20(x)/3000
t.fall = x/150
Temp = 16 - x/150

They also give incorrect answers in marking schemes.
