Hi, I'm JY from Malaysia. I just received my AS Chemistry results and got an 87 for it. Sadly, my firm university requires me to get an A* for chemistry and I am not confident that I'll eventually get a 93 at A2. I'm planning to resit AS chemistry come May. However, I have a query about this. For instance, if I get a lower percentage uniform mark in my second AS Chemistry exam, say 85 marks, and a 93 in my A2 chemistry, will CIE consider the percentage uniform mark of my first AS chemistry result, i.e. 87 and combine it with the 93 marks and award me with an A*, or would they just go for the most recent AS Chemistry result and award me with only an A?

Please help me with this! Any help is greatly appreciated! :) :)

Hello JY,

You don't necessarily need a 90% for your AS to be able to score an A* for your complete A-Level grade. Especially if you're going to sit your AS while taking A2 exams as well.

Back on topic, they will only choose which of your AS grade is higher and carry that forward to your A-Level grade. Just ensure that you are carrying forward both November 2012 and June 2013.
