WS! :)

In part (d), they say that although a different alcohol was used, the molecular formula is the same. So an isomer of propanol must have been used. The only isomer of propanol is 2-propanol and its structure can be obtained by simply changing the position of the functional group.

It's kind of a different question , I think what they mean is that the isomer propan-2-ol cannot be oxidised to a carboxylic acid since the OH group is joined to the 2nd Carbon atom

It's isomerism that they are talking about here. You must know what Isomerism is.
Isomers are substances (organic compounds) that have the same molecular formula but different structural formula.
Since this is an ATP paper, therefore you dont need to go in details. But you must have a concept about all this for your theory paper.

You know that an Alcohol, when completely oxidised, gives out a carboxylic acid.
But the 'Isomers' of the Alcohol group (called the secondary alcohols) when oxidised, they do not give a carboxylic acid. Rather they are oxidised to Ketone (u dont need to know this at this level). So just write any of the isomers of Propanol there and draw it's structure.

Propan-2-ol is an isomer of propanol.
The '2' in the middle means that you just have to put the -OH group to the second carbon!
