Look at the GT from MJ 2012 for Chemistry (attached).

The marks for the 5 components (AL) add up to 270.....so why does it say at the bottom that the total for the syllabus is 260??? Where did the other 10 marks go????

1) you've already made another similar thread, in the future try to put all your points in one thread as that will increase your chances of getting answered completely.
2) the paper 3 is of 40 marks but paper 5 is of 30 marks. Thus to even them out paper 3's marks are changed from out of 40 to out of 30. The percentage is same but there is now uniformity in the result as 130 from AS and 130 from A2 make a 50:50 division, and equal out to be 260.

Thanks for the reply...and to address your first point, I decided to make another thread because I was not getting any response on the other and I assumed it was because I referred to Law and not many people on Xtreme do or rather speak about Law. As such, I felt it would be more feasible to use Chemistry as my example since people seem to do that more on here. I actually don't do Chemistry.

But thanks for the response. It makes sense now.
