Well group 1 metals are all white or silvery white. Compounds of transition metals are couloured e.g copper2 sulfate is blue, Iron chloride is yellow, iron sulfate is green, copper2 oxide is black. Zinc oxide when cold is white and when hot is yellow. Copper itself is a pink solid and iron is a white solid. As for halogens, chlorine is yello/green, iodine is black/grey and bromine is reddish brown. Most compounds except for compounds of transition metals are are usually white, silvery white or grey! thats all i can remember now.
