Hey guys,
In extraction of the metal zinc by electrolysis, they say that zinc oxide is dissolved in a diluted solution of sulfuric acid, giving a solution of zinc sulfate. Then they mentioned that this solution is electrolysed and zinc deposits at the cathode. But since the solution contains H+ ions, shouldn't hydrogen be discharged instead of zinc, since hydrogen is less reactive?
Please help me , thanks.
